This Day of the Dead art is bursting with color and kitsch to the core! This Dia de los Muertos art features an archival giclee print of one of my funky Day of the Dead skulls. In this skull I combined the simplified black outline of a skull with my usual funky abstract style to create an artwork that is vivid, boisterous, and jubilant. I like the paradoxical juxtaposition of the classic image of death and mortality – the skull – portrayed amidst colorful abstract forms and intricate designs, which express the fullness and joy of life.

I really loved the process of making a mixed media piece using one of my giclees as a centerpiece. I especially loved all the glitz and glamour of the glitter and rhinestones! The sides of this painting are textured with lime green acrylic embedded with rhinestones.
